A spat of fire out breaks in the UK in the early 1980’s was of particular concern to a fire fighter who went to each site to inspect the cause of fire.
In each burnt out home he visited, he came across the unburned pictures of the Crying boys.
The paintings of the Crying boys was painted by Italian painter Giovanni Bragolin, which proved to be so popular they were mass produced.
The fireman started thinking, there must be more to this.
05th of September 1985, The Sun, a British tabloid news paper printed an article in which the fire fighter claimed that undamaged copies of the painting were frequently found a midst the ruins of burned out houses. By the end of November that year belief that the painting was cursed was so wide spread, that The Sun news paper, arranged mass bomb fires of the paintings. Far and wide, people were handing in their painting to be destroyed.
Who was the boy in the painting?
In 1969 Painter Giovanni Bragolin, saw a orphaned street child, who had such a sad look on his face, the painter wanted to capture that in a painting. He inquired about
The boy at the local Catholic Church.
The Catholic Priest knew of the boy and named him as Don Bonillo.
Don Bonillo (Diablo – meaning Devil) had run away, after it was said he had accidentally started a fire in which both his parents died. The priest gave the Painter a stern warning, not to have anything to do with the child, as where ever he goes fires mysterious start. The Painter never the less decided to adopt the child. The paintings did very well and made the Painter a fortune. Until one day, the studio in which the painter worked caught fire. The painter immediately blamed the little boy, naturally in tears the boy ran away.
In 1976 a car exploded on the outskirts of Barcelona after crashing into a wall. The victims body was burnt beyond recognition. In a desperate attempt to identify the victim, the police on the scene, managed to find a partially burnt drivers license in the Glove compartment. The License belonged to a boy named Don Bonillo.
Now whether you believe the story or not, you have to ask yourself the question, can something like this happen? My answer to you is yes.
I would like to bring to your attention many other examples:
James Dean and his car “The fat Bastard”
William Escchrich bought the destroyed vehicle of James Dean and salvaged the rear mounted engine and a few other parts. Fellow driver Troy McHenry installed these parts in his car and subsequently crashed and perished in a race in 1956.
Have you heard of the following paintings?
The extradition of the polar bears (man proposes – God disposes)
The Scream painting. I can go on and on with examples. My question to you is this. Are you aware of what you are buying and placing on your walls? Makes you think doesn’t it.
